June 29th 20 Weeks!

20 Weeks!!! We are half way there! BabyCenter.com thinks I should "record and share this milestone..." So here I am on our Blog...
I arrived in California Monday morning. My mom, sister and Bridget came to LAX to pick me up then we had a nice lunch at Red Lobster with my grandma. I think the moment I got to California I have exploded. I dont know if it is swelling from the total of 13 hours in the airplane or I just decided to start to show in the States.... but I feel HUGE! It could also be the "super healthy" food I have been eating, lots of fried foods and hot sauce! I did go to Trader Joe's today and buy my favorite fruits and veggies, so I should be a little healthier from now on!
Today I went swimming at my parents pool. It was very refreshing, and a nice escape from the 100* F (41*C) weather. Leto says it is super cold in Sao Paulo, so I am happy to be here!
Our baby seems to be more clam in California. I haven't felt her move as much, but maybe I have been distracted by the other kids running around and the constant noise (some thing I am not used to, but I need to get used to it)!

June 22nd 19 weeks

So today starts my 19th week. Almost half way there!! I have a feeling the second half will seem longer than the first half. I have really started to feel her moving now. I can feel punches and kicks (I think) as well as a lot of pressure when she moves around. It is a very crazy feeling. The belly is getting bigger, but I still look chubby and not pregnant (at least that is what I think).

We had another ultrasound today. I wanted to do my 20 week ultrasound here in Brazil, so I would have to worry about it (or PAY for it) in California. The ultrasound doctor said that everything looks good. She was in the fetal position when we saw her. Space is getting tight already. The bigger she gets the harder it is for the doctor to find stuff, but she found everything, and thankfully she is still a girl! I am going to have the doctor check every ultrasound, just to make sure!!!

I leave for California on Sunday. I have a 10 hour flight from Sao Paulo to Houston and then a 3 + hour flight from Houston to LAX. Needless to say I have requested an isle seat for the 10 hour flight. I have had to pee every hour for the past couple weeks! I can't wait to see my family and friends and meet my cousin Melissa's new baby girl! I think the girls are taking over now!!!!

June 18th 18 weeks 3 days

I haven't updated in a while because there hasn't been any updates! Well there has been one. I think I have started to feel the baby move. At first I didn't know if it was gas or the baby but now I am almost certain it is the baby. I feel her mostly when I am laying down and being still, but once in a while I feel her when I am sitting or even teaching. Leto says that he felt her move too while touching my belly... I will have to take his word for it since I have only felt her on the inside! It is a great feeling and once in a while I think she give a nice strong kick or punch, or maybe headbutt and I jump a little. I can't wait until I feel her doing somersaults, but I hope she is nice to me and doesn't beat up my insides too much!
I only have one more day left to teach and then I am on my winter vacation! I am super excited!

June 7th 16 weeks 6 days

I just wanted to post some pictures that Sol took (Leto's sister). They are pretty cool. I can't wait for my belly to grow a little more so it looks even better.
I also bought my ticket for California. I will arrive June 27 and return to Sao Paulo on August 15th. Leto will get to California at the end of July. I am beyond excited to see my family and friends, and my good friend, Alison's, wedding. I am so happy that Leto and I will be there for her and Jacques big day!

June 1st 16 weeks

We had our 16 week ultra sound today and found out that we are having a girl! Leto and I are super excited. I think we found our doctor too. She is really nice and I think it will be a good match.

The ultra sound was amazing. We got to see all of the little bones in the spine and the ribs. At first she was facing down and had the hiccups. She also had her legs crossed at the ankles again, like in the last ultra sound! Such a lady! Then she turned and faced us and started opening and closing her mouth! Like she was talking to us! I thought she looked like an alien with two huge dark eyes. She was opening and closing her hands a little too. Then she was on her back and we got to see her adorable profile. She has the cutest little nose. It was another absolutely amazing experience.

I am doing well. no more morning sickness, but my mood is swinging a lot. It is the end of the semester and the kids I teach are acting like it. I will be done with work on June 21st, and shortly there after I will leave for my "winter vacation" in sunny, hot California! I am very excited to see my family and friends and eat some good american food! I haven't gotten too much bigger, but I have a feeling once I get back to California I will blow up like a balloon after eating all of the food I have been missing!

Congratulations to my cousins-in-law. Leto's cousin Du and his wife Erica welcomed their baby girl Manuela into the world today! A lot of our friends and family are having girls this year! My cousin Melissa, and two of our friends here in Brazil! Exciting times!

Leto's sister Sol takes amazing pictures and she had the great idea to take a monthly belly pic with a tape measure to see how big I will get over the next months. Its in centimeters so you Americans have to do the conversions!


I think this is the "proof" or lack there of, that she is a girl! We have yet to decide on a name but we do have a front runner... we will tell everyone when we are sure!
