Cecilia Knight Depintor is here!!!!!

So here is our labor and deliver story! I just copied and pasted from my journal, so it is a lot, and a lot of detail! I omitted somethings due t o graphic nature :-)

Ceci is here! Wow I cant believe it! And she is absolutley perfect!!! So here is the story!
We woke up at 530am on Friday Nov 18th and got ready and headed to the hospital! We arrived at the hospital at 635 and checked in by 730. They took me in to the "sorting" room where they monitered the baby and took my vitals and got me ready. At 815 we were taken to the pre-labor room, the induce room. At 820 they took my blood and put in the iv and started the pitocin. Leto was going to go get my mom and take her to our room but I was feeling bad, like i was going to faint so i told him to stay a little bit. I almost fainted again, the nurse layed me down and I felt better after about 10 minutes. At 900 they put the monitor on my belly to watch Ceci and my contractions. At about 920 I started to feel light contractions... I thought. They felt just like the braxton hicks contractions. At about 1210 I called Bren on skype and the contractions started getting strong. They were like braxton hicks contractions but they hurt! They funny hurt not, gonna cry hurt. After about 10 minutes of talking to Bren we hung up and I went to the bathroom and we went for a walk around the pre-labor wing. I thought it was weird that the contractions stopped hurting when i was walking around. We get back to the room and i lay down and the painful contractions disapear... back to just braxton hicks contractions. They up my pitocin a little but it doesnt work. At 2pm Dra Katia shows up and examins me. She says my cervix is dilated to about 1. I thought it would be about that. We talked for a little and she said if we keep this up I wont have the baby until the early morning and probably after having to have a c-section anyway. So we decided to up the pitocin and see where we ware in an hour. The contractions start getting a little worse but not bad like when i was talking to Bren. So i knew when Dra KAtia came back at 3 that we would be going in for a c-section. After 2 i was a little sad and a little worried but after 3 i accepted it and i was not sad or worried but kinda excited. So she said she would go look for an operating room. At about 325 they came and got me to take me to the OR. Leto left and took the things to our room. I got to the OR and saw Dra Katia, Eva and the anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist spoke better english than dra Katia and Eva which was very comforting! They said that they wanted to start the anesthesia and that it was better if Leto waited outside because it is pretty traumatic for the husbands. I reluctantly agreed and they got started. Dra Katia was holding my up in the sitting position. Dont get me wrong, it hurt but it was more awkward than painful, just not knowing exactly what he was doing. My legs started to get warm and then i couldnt move them or really feel them, just a warm sensation. Leto finally arrived and they started without me really knowing it. The anesthesiologist was talking with me and joking with me and said "Can you smell that. Its a Kathy bbq" I didnt really smell anything, thankfully! So after about 10 or 15 minutes after they cut me open they said "She is almost here!" Leto got up (he was recording the whole thing...) The anesthesiologist said he would push on the top of my belly, and man did he push hard! There was some talking and then I heard her. I heard my baby cry! I started to cry, which i didnt know I would do! It was such a happy emotional cry it was amazing. She was born at 3:52pm. Dra Katia showed me her all cheesy and then took her away. She cried a little more and then was pretty content. I was just laying there in shock and just supper happy. After a few minutes, when they were weighing her and cleaning her up they brought her over and kinda layed her next to my shoulder. I think this is when they turned on the live webcam for everyone to see. I couldnt see her very well but it was so great to finally see our baby. Leto came over and sat next to us. After about 5 minutes they put her in the daddy sling. The rest of them putting me back together seemed like it took forever! But i was happy because I was with our baby. It felt weird and uncomfortable but everything went pretty well. They said something like they had a little problem with my bladder and there was some blood but it already started to clear up, so it wasnt a problem. They said that i would need to use the catheter for a little longer. So they finished me up, and we took pictures and then EVERYONE left me! Leto went to go see the baby in the nursery and the doctors left. I was completely alone in the OR for a good 3 minutes. I was like "this is interesting, they all just left me minutes after surgery and if something happened to me nobody would know"... Well thankfully nothing happened to me and the nurse came in and started to get me ready to be taken to the recovery area. Thankfully they said I would be taken strait to my room and I wouldnt need to stay the couple of hours in the recovery area. I stayed for about 15 minutes. It was strange to be a big room with other pregos and women who had just had their babies. They took me to my room and my mom was there. I felt ok, still numb in the legs but by the time i got to the room i could wiggle my toes. I think I got back to the room at about 530. They didnt bring me Ceci until around 8. Ligia came and saw me before they brought me Ceci and then right after they brought me Ceci Leto's entire family came in. I was so happy I didnt notice that there was like 10 people in my room. All of the ladies got to hold her. Everyone was super happy. Cadu and Brian came too. I think it was about 9 when everyone left except for Ligia. Ligia left at about 930 and then it was just me, Leto and Ceci! We didnt put her down. I held her or Leto held her. Then they came and got her at about 1145. I tried to get some sleep but i dont think i slept at all. Every time I heard a baby cry I thought it was Ceci and I wanted to get her. They brought her to me at about 330 and she was wide awake and looking right at me. The nurse helped me breastfeed and it worked for about 20 minutes. It was such a strange feeling, but i was happy she was able to latch on.

So as of right now our baby girl is 5 days old! The first night home was a little rough, and i think i only slept for 45 minutes, but last night was a lot better. She eats, and sleeps and is awake, eyes open, not eating, for a very little amount of time. Leto is a great father. He worries a lot which makes me more calm. (Usually its the other way around!!!) My mom is a big help and comfort. I think i would be a lot more stressed and worried if she were not around!

Opps looks like Ceci is about to wake up! Im happy she let me update the blog! I have posted a lot of pics on facebook, more than i can upload here of course, so take a look at my facebook page.

Nov 16th 40 weeks!

Well, we made it to 40 weeks! I really thought that she would come a little early but now it seems like she wants to stay in forever!
My mom arrived on Thursday the 10th, and to tell you the truth what we have done so far is a blur to me right now!
We will have a doctor's appointment at 2pm today where I expect my doctor to say "You are dilated to 0, still." Then I expect her to say "Let's check you into the hospital and induce you." I know that she does not want me to go one more week, and I definitely do not want to go one more week and luckily in Brazil they dont like you to go so far past your due date because you will most likely have to have a c-section anyway. Also once I get induced I know my doctor won't want me to try for a very long time. So hopefully we will have our baby girl by the end of the day or early Thursday! I am doing good, not nervous yet. I am sure once I get to the hospital I will be. Leto looks a little nervous, but I know he will do great! We both just want to see and finally hold our baby girl!

Here is my weekly collage pic. I sure was skinny in the beginning! Lets see if I can get back to that body... haha
I will give you all an update as soon as I can!
Thanks for your love and kind thoughts!

Baby Room!

Here are some pics of her (almost) finished baby room! All that we are missing is a white curtain! It is a crib/changing table combo with a "nanny" bed underneath. Where my mom will sleep while she is here, and the baby will sleep in our room!

When we turn off the main light we have these tiki lights that make it softer and super cute!

Nov 8th 39 weeks!

39 weeks and still very pregnant!
We had a doctor's appointment at 7:50am! She examined me and I am not dilated at all! So we did a quick ultrasound to see if everything is ok with the baby and everything was perfect! She weighs 3.3kilos now (about 7.25 lbs). So she is pretty big! I however lost some weight. Last week I weighed 76.4 kilos (about 168lbs) and today I weighed 75.7 (166lbs). So I still haven't gained any weight since I have been back to Brazil (almost 3 months). I am super excited about this, but I will be happy when I finally have her and can eat some sweets and fruit again! I can safely say I am all belly now! My doctor said that she is still very high too... but I already knew this because she has camped out under my right rib, and loves to tickle me (or more likely kick me) in the rib when I am trying to fall asleep!
So my doctor, Leto and I talked it over and decided to wait another week, and if nothing has happens by next Wednesday (Nov 16, our due date) she will induce me. They really dont like to wait here in Brazil, which is not a problem for me because I wont want a 41 week baby still growing inside me! One tiny problem is that my doctor has a confrence she is attending this weekend outside of Sao Paulo! She leaves Friday night and returns Tuesday afternoon. (Tuesday is also a holiday here) So this baby girl needs to make her appearance fast, or wait a week! I am hoping that she comes Friday morning, because then she will be born on 11/11/11! And my mom will be here. My mom arrives Nov 10th at 1030am.
I cant believe we are down to our last week! This has been a long nine months!
Some guys are coming to put our crib together sometime today. I will post pics of the room as soon as I finish it!
Here are some recent pics!
We went to one of my coworker's wedding. It was really beautiful!

Nov 1st - 38 weeks!

We are definitely in the home stretch now! Only 2 weeks until our due date, but of course she can come any day now!
I am in my last week of work. Actually I only have two more days of work left. Tomorrow is a holiday here, therefore I only work on Thursday and Saturday! I am really ready to stop working! Leto thought that I should stop working sooner, but I felt that if i just stayed at home all day time would pass too slow. So i decided to work as long as I thought i could. I am hanging in there!
Our crib was delivered on Friday, now we have to wait until next Tuesday to have it put together. I will be very happy to finish her room, and of course post some pictures!
We had a doctor's appointment yesterday, but there was nothing new. No dilation, no sign of her coming within the next few days... My mom arrives on Nov 10th, so this baby girl will have to wait until then!
We had a nice Halloween weekend. My school, Alumni, had a Halloween carnival on Saturday that we to our nephew too. It was fun but I was sitting most of the time! On Sunday we went to a birthday party and carved pumpkins with Leto's sisters and nephew. It was fun but I sure do miss my American Halloweens! I have heard that some kids go trick-or-treating in the apartment complexes, but no one came to our door. I had my students watch Hocus Pocus and they enjoyed cupcakes and cookies I made. All-in-all it was a good Halloween.

Here are some pictures!

Of course if there is news I will let you all know as soon as possible! If not, we have our next doctor's appointment next Tuesday!

Lots of Love,
Kathy, Leto and Baby
