August 17th 27 weeks

Wow I dont know where to begin! I haven't written in quite a while! All I can say is that I have been busy!
Leto arrived in California on July 26th. It was great to see him, and for him to see me and my big belly. The first thing he said was how gorgeous I was. (He is so cute!) I think he felt the baby move that night... We left the airport at about 2am, so we were all very tired when we got back to Costa Mesa. The next day we drove to San Diego with my sister. He definitely felt the baby move there, and we got to try out our fetal doppler and hear her heart beat. It was pretty amazing but I dont think she liked it. It seemed like she would move away from where ever it was.

San Diego
After San Diego we went to Costa Mesa, then to Indio, where we celebrated our first anniversary (Aug 1st)! It was a great night. Leto and I aren't much for celebrating any type of anniversary so we just had a nice dinner at Beer Hunter and then we went for a stroll around Desert Springs Marriott. (Where I used to work about 100 years ago!) It was a lovely night! It has been the best year of my life and it seems to only be getting better. Everyday I love Leto a little more. It is the best feeling in the world. And to know that he is going to be a wonderful father fills me with joy and hope that I will be as good a mother as he is a father!

Desert Springs Marriott!

1st Anniversary at my parents pool! Then it was off to Las Vegas. Las Vegas was interesting pregnant. Actually it was the opposite of interesting. It was boring! I haven't been sad or depressed about the fact that I cannot drink, but Vegas got me a little sad that I couldnt partake. I haven't been to Las Vegas and not drank for about 8 years. I was a little sad for Leto because I knew he wanted to go crazy and have fun, but I just couldn't fake it.

Las Vegas
After Las Vegas we went back to Indio and after a couple days of relaxation and swiming in my parents pool we went back to Costa Mesa. Leto went to his first baseball game and we saw the Angels win in the 10th inning, and the Big Bang Fireworks after. The baby was fine during the fireworks and didnt jump at all!

Angel's game
I had a bachelorette weekend in San Diego for my good friend Alison. That was a little sad too. Everyone was drinking and dancing and I couldnt do either. When I try to dance I have to hold my belly or there is a lot of pressure, and nothing is cooler than a pregnant lady dancing and holding her belly, so I decided to take a lot of pictures! We went to a drag queen show called Lips but I called it a night after that while the rest of the girls went out dancing.

The 17 of us (and our waitress/waiter???) celebrating Alison at Lips
When I got back from San Diego Leto, Brenda and I made a trip to Babies R Us to finish buying all the baby goodies. We got back to Indio and started to pack. At first it looked pretty bleak. Like nothing would fit. Then Roland busted out his huge sports duffel bag, and Leto got EVERYTHING to fit. I was so happy and relieved. We had to pack the baby stroller, car-seat, rocker and playpen, plus a ton more little things, all in 4 pieces of luggage and we did it!
After a couple more days in Indio we said goodbye to our friends and headed back to Costa Mesa. We went to Alison and Jacques' beautiful wedding in Dana Point on Friday Aug 12th. Then we headed to LAX for our flight Saturday night. By total coincidence Leto and I were on the same flight as Alison and Jacques to Panama. They planned their honeymoon for Panama and just happened to be on our flight! It was so nice to chat with them at the airport and a little on the red-eye flight, and wish them a happy honeymoon at the Panama airport.

Mr and Mrs Jacques Chenier The flights were a little rough for me. The second flight was definitely worse than the first. I just couldnt get into a comfortable position. Anf the 6 hour flight seemed to take 12 hours! But we finally landed in Sao Paulo with all of our luggage and got through customs with no questions asked. We got to our apartment at 230 in the morning, and I woke up at 11am to get ready for work! It was so funny to go to work and see everyone's reaction to my belly. I wasn't showing at all before I left and I was gone from work for about 2 months, so my belly grew a lot! The littlest students were the funniest because I hadn't told them I was pregnant before vacation because they are really beginners at English and I thought they wouldnt understand me if I tried to explain it. So when they came into the class and saw my belly their jaws dropped and said "Voce ta gravida????" (Are you pregnant?) And I said yes. Some thought that I was just 2 months pregnant because that is the amount of time I was gone. It was very cute.

Of course we did a ton of other things but this blog has gone on too long already!

The baby has been moving a lot these past few days. I am not used to walking to the metro and then to work and the baby puts a lot of pressure sometime and I almost have to stop walking and wait for it to pass. I hope she gets used to me walking more! She is also moving a lot while I am teaching. Maybe she likes hearing my voice!

My friend Yada gave me some good advice while I was in Indio. Her mother (mexican mother ;-)) Told her that it is good for the baby to bond with the father if you lay on the bed with your bare belly pressed against his bare back. The first time we tried this almost instantly she started kick or punching his back! It was amazing and he could feel it too. So we have done this almost every night. She is really active when we are talking to each other. She really doesnt stop moving when we are in this position and we are talking. It is a great feeling, and I know she is bonding with her daddy!

I'm sorry this post was soooooo long! The next post will be shorter and sooner!
